Overview
Advanced Pharmaceutical Science And Technology has revolutionized drug delivery systems from the traditional oral tablets and capsules to more sophisticated formulations that ensure increased bioavailability and targeted delivery of drugs. Novel drug delivery systems offer an improved pharmacological response by targeting specific sites in the body, thereby reducing side effects and toxicity. This is achieved through the use of nanotechnology, liposomes, dendrimers, and other targeted drug delivery systems that optimize drug absorption and distribution. Targeted drug delivery systems are especially useful in the treatment of cancer, where traditional oral administration of drugs is often inadequate due to poor solubility and low specificity. Nanoparticles and liposomes allow for the targeted delivery of chemotherapeutic agents to the site of the cancer, resulting in improved efficacy and reduced damage to healthy tissues.
