Overview

Medulloblastoma is an aggressive type of cancer that affects the brain and spinal cord in children. It is the most common form of malignant brain tumor in children, and it can spread quickly throughout the central nervous system. Symptoms include headaches, confusion, and muscle weakness. Treatment may involve surgery, radiation, and chemotherapy. Improved diagnosis and treatment of medulloblastoma over the past few decades has greatly improved survival rates and quality of life, though research is ongoing to determine how best to target the disease and prevent recurrence.
