Overview

A case series is an observational study design that describes a group of patients sharing a particular diagnosis, exposure, or intervention, reporting their clinical features, management, and outcomes. Lacking a comparison group, case series do not establish causation, but they are valuable for characterizing rare or newly recognized conditions, generating hypotheses, documenting unusual presentations, and informing diagnosis and management when larger studies are unavailable. Together with single case reports and clinical images, they form an important component of descriptive clinical literature. Research relevant to this journal presents case series and case reports across multiple specialties, often illustrated with clinical and diagnostic images. Studies include a case series of chiasmal lesions with ocular manifestations, resolving vitreous hemorrhage in diabetic retinopathy, common tumors in exceptional anatomical locations, primary breast sarcoma, pleomorphic adenoma of the nasal septum, conjunctival resection for a refractory corneal ulcer, and maxillofacial injury patterns among crash victims. Related work documents dental sinus infections, bone-remodeling interventions in pediatric fractures, nutritional status in infants with complex physiology, and prenatal diagnostic assessment. The journal publishes peer-reviewed case reports, case series, and clinical images that document diagnostic reasoning, unusual presentations, and management across diverse clinical fields.
