Overview

Cell proliferation is the process by which cells grow and divide to produce new cells, a fundamental mechanism in both normal tissue development and disease states. Research published in International Journal of Thorax examining this topic spans multiple biological contexts, from cancer biology to tissue repair and developmental processes. Studies have investigated how dietary interventions such as fish oil may influence tumor cell proliferation through effects on DNA synthesis or cell loss in breast carcinoma models, while other work has explored the role of specific transcription factors like thyroid transcription factor-1 in regulating proliferation of thyroid cancer cells. The journal has published research on metabolic targeting in chronic lymphocytic leukemia, the anticancer effects of pharmaceutical agents in breast cancer cell lines, and mechanisms controlling cell cycle progression including the role of CDC6 in senescence and tumor suppression. Additional investigations have examined how wound fluid composition differentially affects cellular proliferation in tissue repair models, oligodendrocyte development through Wnt signaling pathways, and the evolving properties of solid tumor cells under various experimental conditions. Understanding cell proliferation mechanisms remains essential for developing therapeutic strategies in oncology, regenerative medicine, and developmental biology.
