The Role of Peer Reviewers
Peer reviewers assess manuscripts for validity, rigour, and clarity, and advise the editors. Their work is essential to the quality of the HIV/AIDS research the journal publishes. Reviewing also develops experience in critical assessment of scientific writing.
Reviewers receive formal recognition for their contributions to HIV/AIDS publishing.
Annual Certificate

Reviewer Acknowledgment
Active reviewers are recognized in our annual reviewer acknowledgment page thanking contributors to HIV research quality.
Verification Letters
Request official verification letters for promotion, tenure, or grant applications confirming your peer review service.
Reviewing confers no advantage in the review or acceptance of the reviewer's own submissions. Any manuscript authored by a reviewer is handled independently, and editorial decisions are based on scientific merit alone.
Peer review experience develops skills valued in academic work. Reviewers gain insight into manuscript structure, strengthen critical analysis, and stay current with HIV research through exposure to recent submissions.
We respect that reviewers have primary research responsibilities. You control your availability and can decline invitations during busy periods. Most reviewers complete two to six reviews annually based on their available time.
