International Marine Science Journal welcomes submissions throughout the year from researchers, research groups and multidisciplinary teams working across marine and ocean science. Regular submissions are accepted throughout the year.

Invitation
What the journal is seeking
Contributions are welcome across all seven of the journal's core disciplines. The areas below are where the journal would particularly like to receive work, because they are active questions in marine science that the published record would benefit from.
Regional observation from under-sampled seas
Hydrography, biodiversity inventories, species records and community description from coastal and shelf regions where systematic observation is sparse. Well-documented regional work is a contribution to marine science, not a lesser form of it.
Ocean–climate interactions in marine systems
Ocean warming and heat content, acidification, deoxygenation, sea-level change, and the responses of marine populations and communities to them, where marine systems are the object of study.
Fisheries and living marine resources
Population dynamics, life history and reproductive biology, stock structure, fisheries ecology, bycatch and the effects of fishing on habitats and communities.
Marine pollution and environmental pressure
Contaminants including microplastics, metals and hydrocarbons, nutrient enrichment and eutrophication, ecotoxicology, underwater sound and its effects on marine animals, and environmental monitoring.
Coastal and estuarine processes
Estuarine circulation and biogeochemistry, land–sea fluxes, shoreline and sediment dynamics, and the ecology of coastal systems under use.
Methods for marine measurement
Sampling and survey design, instrumentation, acoustic and remote-sensing methods, environmental DNA and species detection, and analytical or modeling approaches for marine data. A methods paper is not required to demonstrate a management outcome to be published.
These are invitations, not restrictions. Any work within the scope set out on the Aims and Scope page is welcome, and the scope page is the authority on what fits.

How to submit
Manuscripts are submitted through ManuscriptZone, the journal's primary route. Read the Instructions for Authors first: they set out manuscript structure, limits, reference style, and the ethics, permit and data-availability requirements that apply to marine research.
