This investigation considers some difficulties high-stake examinnees engaging reading comprehension questions. To this point, the researcher regarded the item types as main effects and applied generalizability theory to investigate the variability; the answer sheets of a test from 400 examinees were randomly chosen. Using a crossed design of G-theory in the GENOVA program, the researcher determined the components of variance in the two different passages with having items and examined different sources of error in the measurement process. The findings of the investigation clarified that the main effect for items the items facet had a considerable degree of variability, and therefore, they influenced the examinees' performance. This study can motivate the researchers, test developers, and test designers to consider their work more carefully.
