The published record, and how it is corrected

An archive is only as good as the journal’s willingness to correct it. These are the rules that apply to everything listed above.

Version of record
Each article is listed here as it was published, including its original publication date. Titles, author names and page ranges are reproduced from the published article and are not silently amended on this page.
Corrections and retractions
Minor post-publication errors are corrected by erratum or corrigendum; errors affecting the conclusions by a correction notice with an updated version; evidence of misconduct by retraction under COPE guidance. No article in this archive currently carries any such notice. Any that is issued will be linked from the affected article’s entry and will remain permanently visible here.
Peer review
Manuscripts that proceed to external peer review are evaluated under the single-blind model by at least two independent ophthalmology specialists.
Ethics and consent
Research involving human participants requires documented institutional review board approval and compliance with the Declaration of Helsinki. Clinical photographs showing periocular or facial features require explicit patient consent for publication.
Permanence
Articles are not removed from this archive. A withdrawn or retracted article stays listed with its notice attached, because the citation record has to keep working.
Charges and independence
The article processing charge is USD 1,200, or USD 900 for students, billed only after acceptance. There is no submission fee. Editorial decisions rest on scientific merit and are independent of article charges, membership and any optional service.
