Shaping Ophthalmic Research

Editors play a pivotal role in maintaining the scientific rigor and ethical integrity of JOS.

Core Responsibilities
  • Evaluate assigned manuscripts for scientific quality and clinical relevance
  • Select and invite qualified ophthalmology peer reviewers
  • Ensure conflicts of interest are identified and managed
  • Provide constructive, fair, and timely editorial decisions
  • Uphold confidentiality of all manuscript information
  • Adhere to COPE guidelines for publication ethics
Editorial Process

Upon receiving an assignment, editors should perform initial evaluation, identify at least two independent reviewers, monitor the review timeline, and synthesize feedback into an editorial recommendation.

Communication Standards
  • Respond to editorial assignments within 48 hours
  • Follow up with reviewers if reviews are delayed
  • Communicate professionally with authors
