The biological Databases Scope and Guidelines:
Descriptions of databases and biocuration application and activities in all areas of biology are welcome, including biological chemistry, genomics, proteomics, molecular biology and biomedicine.
Databases must be freely available to all via the web, not require any login or registration and not be password-protected.
1- Detailed descriptions of databases, and database tools, in the broad arena of biology - authors are strongly encouraged to include a biological discovery or a 'testable' hypothesis in their papers.
2- Shorter papers describing significant updates to established databases.
3- Objective reviews of complementary and ancillary databases and database tools.
5- Methodology and technical notes on database development.
6- Improvements to automated prediction and annotation for biomedical datasets.
7- Detailed descriptions of the state and updating of the annotation of genomes.
8- Descriptions of the development and content of ontologies of relevance to the biomedical community and the tools specific to the use of these ontologies.
9- Articles relevant to the annotation process such as standards for curation, annotation best practices, annotation methodologies, the use of automated and semi-automated methods for annotation and the measures for annotation consistency.
10- Perspective manuscripts describing novel approaches, technologies, standards, or methods for database and/or annotation explorations including comparisons of state-of-the-art approaches.
11- The database web site must contain sufficient help materials to ensure an easy use by a first-time visitor.
12- Authors are encouraged to make their databases accessible and legible on phone and tablet screens and to mention this compatibility in their manuscripts.
13- All databases published in the Bioinformatics and database Issue are expected to be maintained under the same URL for at least 5 years after the publication data.
The Bioinformatics Scope and Guidelines:
Its main focus is on new developments in genome bioinformatics and computational biology
1- Genome analysis such as, Comparative genomics, genome assembly, genome and chromosome annotation, identification of genomic features such as genes, splice sites and promoters.
2- Sequence analysis such as prediction of function and localisation; novel domains and motifs; prediction of protein, RNA and DNA functional sites and other sequence features.
3- Structural Bioinformatics such as, New methods and tools for structure prediction, analysis and comparison; new methods and tools for model validation and assessment; models of proteins of biomedical interest; protein design; structure based function prediction.
4- Gene Expression such as, high-throughput analysis of expression of biological quantities, including microarrays, RNA-seq, proteomics and mass spectrometry.
5- Genetics and Population Analysis such as, Segregation analysis, linkage analysis, association analysis, map construction, population simulation, linkage disequilibrium, pedigree drawing, marker discovery, power calculation, genotype calling.
