Pancreatic Pseudocyst

A pancreatic pseudocyst is an accumulation of fluid, usually containing digestive enzymes, in the abdomen which is often caused by pancreatitis. It is a rare but serious condition which can cause pain, nausea, vomiting and other gastrointestinal symptoms. Treatment may involve endoscopic drainage, surgery or medications such as antibiotics. Prompt diagnosis and treatment are essential to prevent complications and to improve prognosis. Early recognition and intervention is key to reduce risk of mortality and serious morbidity.
