Biography
Fusao Ikawa is affiliated with Shimane Prefectural Central Hospital and has contributed extensively to neuroimaging and neurosurgical research, with over 34 indexed publications. His work has focused on advanced magnetic resonance imaging techniques for cerebral disease, including surface anatomy scanning, three-dimensional phase-contrast and time-of-flight MR angiography for cerebral aneurysms, arteriovenous malformations, and carotid-cavernous fistulas, as well as MRI characterization of pituitary adenomas, pineal region tumors, and intracranial germ cell tumors. His most-cited publication, a 2019 systematic review and meta-analysis on in-hospital mortality and outcomes following surgical clipping versus endovascular coiling for aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage using nationwide databases, has received 41 citations. His research has advanced the differential diagnosis and surgical planning of complex neurovascular and neoplastic conditions through innovative neuroimaging approaches.
