Biography

Varol Sahinturk is affiliated with Eskişehir Osmangazi University, Turkey, and holds MD and PhD degrees. His research focuses on oxidative stress, cellular toxicity, and metabolic disorders, with notable contributions to understanding protective mechanisms against drug-induced organ injury and the cytotoxic effects of environmental compounds such as acrylamide on various cell lines. His most-cited work, "Silymarin attenuated nonalcoholic fatty liver disease through the regulation of endoplasmic reticulum stress proteins GRP78 and XBP-1 in mice" (2020), has received 40 citations and exemplifies his interest in therapeutic interventions for metabolic liver disease. He has published 13 or more indexed articles examining topics including selenium's protective effects against cyclophosphamide-induced kidney injury, acrylamide-induced apoptosis and anti-proliferative effects in fibroblast and tumour cell lines, and mitochondrial and cell cycle alterations.
