Overview
Bioinformatics is the application of computational tools and methods to collect, store, analyze, and interpret biological data, particularly large-scale molecular information such as DNA sequences, protein structures, and gene expression patterns. Research published in Applied Robotics and Artificial Intelligence on this topic addresses diverse applications spanning disease diagnosis, drug discovery, and molecular characterization. Published work has examined the role of bioinformatics in biotechnology development, proteome analysis for disease understanding, and metabolomics profiling in conditions such as diabetes mellitus. Specific investigations have employed computational approaches to predict microRNA regulatory mechanisms, analyze genetic variants of uncertain clinical significance in cancer-related genes, identify circular RNAs associated with Alzheimer's disease, and perform network pharmacology analyses to predict therapeutic targets. Additional studies have applied bioinformatics methods to coronary disease-associated genetic variants, quantitative microRNA detection for cancer screening, and molecular strain identification in clinical microbiology. This body of work demonstrates how computational biology tools enable researchers to extract meaningful patterns from complex biological datasets, supporting advances in precision medicine, biomarker discovery, and understanding of molecular mechanisms underlying human health and disease.
