Peer Review Timeline

We are committed to transparent, efficient peer review by expert virologists and microbiologists. Our streamlined process ensures timely decisions while maintaining rigorous quality standards.

1
Day 0

Manuscript Submission

Submit your manuscript through ManuscriptZone or Quick Submission Form. You'll receive immediate confirmation and a unique manuscript tracking number.

2
Days 1-3

Editorial Screening

Our editorial team conducts initial screening for scope, completeness, and plagiarism check (iThenticate). Manuscripts with >30% similarity are returned for revision. Suitable manuscripts are assigned to a specialist editor in virology or microbiology.

3
Days 4-7

Reviewer Selection

The assigned editor selects 2-3 expert reviewers with specific expertise in your research area (viral mechanisms, microbial genetics, antimicrobial resistance, etc.). Reviewers are chosen based on publication record and field specialization.

4
Days 8-21

Peer Review

Expert reviewers evaluate your manuscript for scientific rigor, methodological soundness, novelty, and significance to the virology/microbiology field. Reviewers provide detailed feedback and recommendations.

5
Days 22-28

Editorial Decision

Based on reviewer reports, the editor makes a decision: Accept, Minor Revisions, Major Revisions, or Reject. You receive detailed reviewer comments and clear guidance for revisions if required.

6
Variable

Revision Submission

If revisions are required, you'll have time to address reviewer comments (typically 30 days for minor revisions, 60 days for major revisions). Submit your revised manuscript with a detailed response to reviewers.

7
Days 29-42

Re-review & Final Decision

Revised manuscripts undergo expedited re-review (typically 14 days). The editor makes a final decision based on how well revisions address reviewer concerns.

8
Days 43-53

Production & Publication

Accepted manuscripts enter production for copyediting, typesetting, and final formatting. You'll review proofs before publication. Final articles are published online with immediate Open Access availability.

Average Timeline: From submission to publication, most manuscripts complete the process in approximately 60 days. Rapid communications and time-sensitive research receive expedited review (14-day fast-track available).
