The Journal of Death is a peer-reviewed academic journal that focuses on the multidisciplinary study of death and dying. The journal covers a wide range of topics related to death, including but not limited to cultural attitudes towards death, bereavement, end-of-life care, funeral practices, ethical and legal issues surrounding death, grief and mourning, and the psychological, social, and spiritual aspects of death and dying.

JOD is a self-supporting journal and does not receive funding from any institution/government. Hence, the operation of the journal is supported by the processing fees received from the authors. Processing fees are required to meet operational expenses.
