Emerging Research Frontiers

Selective Consideration: Emerging Technologies

IJC selectively considers manuscripts employing cutting-edge technologies when they provide fundamental insights into cellular mechanisms. These submissions undergo additional editorial review to ensure alignment with our molecular biology focus.

CRISPR/Cas Systems Single-Cell Analysis Cryo-EM Structures Optogenetics Spatial Transcriptomics AI-Driven Protein Prediction
Note: AI/machine learning manuscripts must focus on discovering novel biological mechanisms or molecular interactions, not solely on algorithm development or clinical prediction models.

Explicit Exclusions

Out of Scope

Clinical Studies & Patient Outcomes

Clinical trials, patient cohort studies, treatment efficacy, diagnostic accuracy, prognostic markers, or clinical case reports. Rationale: IJC focuses on fundamental molecular mechanisms, not clinical applications.

Medical Therapeutics & Drug Efficacy

Drug screening in disease models, therapeutic efficacy studies, pharmacokinetics, or clinical pharmacology. Rationale: While we publish drug-target interactions at the molecular level, clinical therapeutic outcomes are outside our scope.

Disease Pathology Without Molecular Mechanisms

Descriptive pathology, disease classification, epidemiological studies, or clinical diagnostics without mechanistic molecular insights. Rationale: Disease studies must elucidate underlying molecular mechanisms to fit our scope.

Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine Applications

Biomaterial development, scaffold design, tissue construct fabrication, or clinical regenerative procedures. Rationale: Applied tissue engineering falls outside our molecular biology focus, though basic mechanisms of tissue regeneration are considered.

Purely Computational Studies Without Experimental Validation

Algorithm development, bioinformatics tools, or predictive models without experimental validation of biological predictions. Rationale: Computational work must be coupled with experimental evidence of molecular mechanisms.
