Aims and Scope
Journal of Memory (JM) is a peer-reviewed, open-access, online-only publication dedicated to advancing research on memory and related cognitive processes. The journal serves as a leading platform for scholars in psychology, neuroscience, cognitive science, philosophy, and interdisciplinary fields to explore the mechanisms, functions, and applications of memory.
JM welcomes original research articles, theoretical reviews, meta-analyses, and special issue contributions that deepen our understanding of human and non-human memory systems, from basic mechanisms to real-world applications.
The journal covers a broad spectrum of memory-related topics, including but not limited to:
- Cognitive and Experimental Memory Research: Encoding, storage, retrieval, forgetting, and long-term memory.
- Neuroscience of Memory: Neural circuits, synaptic plasticity, neuroimaging studies, and neurophysiological mechanisms underlying memory.
- Autobiographical & Episodic Memory: The study of personal past experiences and self-referential memories.
- Memory and Emotion: The impact of emotions, stress, and trauma on memory formation and recall.
- Memory Disorders & Clinical Implications: Amnesia, Alzheimer's disease, PTSD, and cognitive impairments related to memory dysfunction.
- False Memories & Eyewitness Testimony: The formation, consequences, and legal implications of memory distortions.
- Memory Development & Aging: Lifespan perspectives on memory changes, from childhood to late adulthood.
- Artificial Intelligence & Memory: Computational models, AI-based cognitive architectures, and memory-inspired machine learning.
- Philosophy of Memory: Conceptual and theoretical debates on the nature, reliability, and epistemology of memory.
- Memory in Everyday Life: The role of memory in decision-making, learning, creativity, and problem-solving.
