Open Access Publishing Rights
IMSJ operates under open access principles ensuring your marine research is freely available while protecting author rights and enabling appropriate content reuse.
Authors retain copyright ownership of their published works in IMSJ. Upon acceptance, authors grant the journal a non-exclusive license to publish and distribute the article. This model ensures authors maintain control over their marine research while enabling open access dissemination.
Author Rights: As copyright holders, authors may share, repost, and reuse their published articles without requiring permission from IMSJ. This includes depositing in institutional repositories, sharing on academic networks, and including in theses or dissertations.
Published articles are made available under Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY 4.0) license unless otherwise specified. This license permits:
Sharing
Copy and redistribute the material in any medium or format worldwide.
Adaptation
Remix, transform, and build upon the material for any purpose, including commercial.
Attribution
Credit must be given to original authors and source, with indication of any changes made.
Authors are responsible for obtaining necessary permissions to reproduce third-party content (figures, tables, extended quotations) in their manuscripts. Permission documentation should be available upon request. Credit lines should follow rights holder specifications.
Under CC BY 4.0, others may freely use published articles provided proper attribution is given. This includes use in educational materials, translations, text mining, and derivative works. Commercial use is permitted under the same attribution requirements.
Authors grant IMSJ a non-exclusive, worldwide license to publish, distribute, and archive articles in all formats and media. This license is effective upon acceptance and enables the journal to fulfill its publishing mission while respecting author copyright.

By submitting manuscripts, authors warrant that the work is original, has not been published elsewhere, and does not infringe upon third-party rights. Authors confirm they have obtained necessary permissions for any reproduced content and that all authors have approved the final manuscript version.
IMSJ commits to maintaining published content accessibility and integrity. We promptly address legitimate concerns about published work and issue corrections, expressions of concern, or retractions when warranted following COPE guidelines. Published content remains permanently available through our archiving partnerships.
Under CC BY licensing, published articles may be translated into other languages provided appropriate attribution is maintained. Translations must clearly identify the original source and indicate the translator. Authors wishing to provide official translations may contact the editorial office to coordinate linked publication of translated versions.
