Reason for Retraction
This is a retraction notice. VIEW THE RETRACTED ARTICLE (https://doi.org/10.14302/issn.2643-0282.imsj-22-4216), which was published on 06 July 2022
This notice is issued by the Editorial Manager on behalf of the International Marine Science Journal (Open Access Pub).
Citation of retracted article:
Anthony Donald Hawkins (2022). The Impact of Underwater Sound on Aquatic Animals – And Especially Fishes. International Marine Science Journal 1(2):57–69. DOI: 10.14302/issn.2643-0282.imsj-22-4216. Published: 06 July 2022.
Reason for retraction:
Following an editorial investigation, we confirmed redundant (duplicate) publication. A substantially similar article by the same author was previously published in Examination of Marine Biology & Oceanography on 02 June 2022: Hawkins AD. The Impact of Underwater Sound on Aquatic Animals – And Especially Fishes. Vol 4, Issue 5. DOI: 10.31031/EIMBO.2022.04.000597. The earlier publication constitutes the version of record. The later IMSJ publication did not disclose prior publication or meet the criteria for acceptable secondary publication. (We also note additional dissemination of the same content on third-party publisher sites.)
Process:
The investigation followed COPE guidance for handling redundant publication. The corresponding author and the editor of the other journal were notified and given the opportunity to respond prior to this decision. The Editorial Manager determined that retraction is required to correct the scholarly record.
Record status:
The retracted article remains available to maintain the scholarly record and is clearly marked RETRACTED on the HTML and PDF. This notice links to the article, and the article links to this notice. The article’s open-license terms remain unchanged.
Approvals:
Approved by the Editorial Manager of International Marine Science Journal.
Date of retraction: 30 May 2023.
